CHRISTMAS
by Susan Penn-Berkeley Brooks

High above the fireplace hangs the mistletoe,
Candles are flickering softly on the mantle below.

Decorations and cards surround the room.
Oh, such excitement, Christmas will be soon!

The tree is adorned with baubles and lights,
And twinkles with comfort through the dark night.

Presents, all wrapped, placed round the tree,
Waiting to be opened with childish glee.

In the hearth a gentle fire is a glow,
And, I wish this Christmas it would snow!

Glance back at the mistletoe high above.
And, take time to remember those I love.
