CALLING ALL ANGLO-INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHERS!

Do you have recent photographs tucked away in an envelope, in an album, or on your computer, that tell a story of our Anglo-Indian Community as we are today? A shot that is so obviously “Anglo-Indian” that it doesn’t even need a caption?

CTR Publications is bringing out their latest book of non-fiction narratives, “The Way We Are” later this year and publisher Blair Williams is looking for a cover image (or images which could be combined into a collage) that is typical of our contemporary life-styles, as well as reflective of our Anglo-Indian heritage.

Possibilities:

  • Snapshots taken at any of our Anglo-Indian Reunions ( New Zealand, Perth, Melbourne and Toronto) particularly if there is a distinctive banner of some kind in the background.
  • Similar pictures celebrating Anglo-Indian Day.
  • Snaps of games like tenniquoit, carom, rounders (seven tiles) taken at picnics or backyard barbecues – particularly if the shot includes the younger generation either playing or looking on. Young field hockey players?
  • Indoor or outdoor sing-along sessions
  • Shots of us jiving or dancing at an Anglo-Indian event.
  • Images of Anglo-Indian bands or well known entertainers at our shows.
  • Pictures of festive treats like kul-kuls made by Mum or Gran (preferably also in the picture) at Christmas.

The above are just suggestions to just to get you started and if you have better ideas, grab your camera and go for it!.

What’s needed? Clear, uncluttered shots. Send in 'jpg' format at 300 pixels/inch, 6" x 4"in size. (If selected, however, we may need to call on you for higher resolution images.)

Cut off date for entries: June 30, 2008 – so get busy folks!

Sorry, there’s no $$ involved in this – but if your picture makes the cover, CTR will make sure your work is acknowledged in The Way We Are. Also, won’t it be great to know that, if selected, your photograph will grace the cover of hundreds of copies of The Way We Are distributed world-wide? And that the proceeds will all go to benefit the neediest of our people in India.

Click on Photos to e-mail me your pictures, (or if you have any questions) but please make sure that the subject line says “The Way We Are Photographs” or I won’t open it and your e-mail will wind up in the trash can.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Margaret
