Isn't this marvelous? 44 individuals from 7 different countries have
been selected for the Anthology.
A big 'Thank you' to all participants. The Anglo-Indian Community has
labored under the stereotype that they were not particularly fond of education
and literary pursuits. The quality of entries received, both in Prose
and Poetry, will dispel this notion. And we could have had another 10
selections, at least, if space did not restrict us (we have 70,000 words
or 350 pages already!)
The contest succeeded because of the effort put in by a few stalwart
volunteers. . None of the judges knew the identity of any of the contestants,
until the selections were completed. So special thanks go to:
· Susan Nagy coordinated the email site,
received all entries, fielded and resolved numerous questions and problems
· Peter and Lynn Lovery received and coordinated the address
and identity of the participants
And the panel of judges
· Margaret Deefholts of Canada
· Pat Brown of Canada
· Ellen Williams of the USA
Blair Williams of the USA
· Dr Adrian Gilbert of Australia
We will strive to have the Anthology published in 2004 and will keep
you up to date with our progress. We plan to have the proceeds of all
sales of this book donated to CTR - the charity helping less fortunate
Anglo-Indians in India (http://home.att.net/~blairrw/wsb/html/view.cgi-home.html-.html)
Look out for our next project -" The Way We Were". This
will also involve the participation of our Community.
Please join me again in congratulating all the 44 winners and the 100+
participants. We are proud of you and of our Anglo-Indian Community
